| Fallen Grace Film Poster - by Emma Taylor |
Use of Colour
There are three main uses of colour on the Fallen Grace film poster; black, white and blue. The contrast between each of these thriller-esc colours provides the audience with an obvious understanding of the genre of production. The blue tints in the background added in Photoshop CS5 in the saturation layer make the image seem cold and distant, and the shadow behind her adds to this eerie effect. The white is used to stand out against the harsh black colours, to break up the big blocks of dark colour which isn't a friendly sight to the eye.
Use of text
The text in the poster is used to anchor meaning. The title of the film is clear as is is the largest pt and clearly located near the centre of the poster. The white text at the top of the poster which has been tracked to fit the length of the poster is in fitting with other thriller posters, I got my inspiration for this from the thriller film 'SALT'. The text at the bottom of the poster is designed to look like the professional templates which display the key film makers of the film, including the production companies, director and Director of Photography. The image/text of the prestigious film awards may influence the audience to see the film, as they expect it to be a well made film.
Use of Logos
The logos used at the bottom of the poster are used to promote the film. The social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter help create media convergence to engage the film audience to enter competitions and keep up to date with the production of the film. The production companies are also named at the bottom of the poster. This is to promote the production companies, and if a viewer enjoys the film, then they may look into watching other films by the same production companies.
