Script (for crew - The Outline)

Fallen Grace

GRACE

(Voice over)

Before the truth came out, everything was perfect.

EXT – FIELD – DAY

Field extreme long shot, Charlie and Grace walking. Go into mid shot of piggy back. Mid close up of Grace’s face smiling during piggy back.

(Voice over)

We were just three friends, having fun.

INT – CAFÉ – DAY

Charlie and Grace are eating some chips, when Zara enters and joins them for lunch.

EXT – FIELD – DAY

Intimate hug – tracking shot breaking the 180 degree rule – long shot – couple of mid shot. Long shot of holding hands looking at scenery, with very slow track.

INT – BEDROOMS - DAY

Action - Three main characters getting ready in the morning, Zara appears first backcombing her hair, Charlie appears second applying product to his hair and lastly Grace appears putting flowers in her hair.

INT – CORRIDOR – DAY

Action – Walking down the school corridor, long shot. Wild track of people talking

EXT – HILL – NIGHT

Firework shots with all three main characters. Diegetic sound of fireworks exploding.

INT – CLASSROOM – DAY

Tracking shot from back of classroom, focus pull to detail of board which says “Nature/Nurture debate – Skinner, Piaget, Vygotsky, Bruner, Chomsky”. Diegetic sound of Mr Eastwood explaining who these theorists are.

Over the shoulder shot of Grace writing. Front shot of pencil dropping. Close up of pencil on floor 60 fps. Separate front shot (filmed at same time) ((change in non-diegetic music)) Film close-up shot of her picking up the pencil – eyes change.

INT – HOUSE – NIGHT

Action - House party, teenagers are laughing, partying, Couple (ZARA) kissing against wall. Dancing with hair flick. People smiling drinking out of red paper cups.

(Voiceover)

I loved my life.

INT – BEDROOM – DAY

Action - Grace writing letter, extreme close up.

• BLACKOUT -

(Voiceover)

I suppose it had to end at some point.

KIDNAPPING

EXT – CAR PARK – NIGHT

Charlie and Grace having big argument, hear party music in background, shot reverse shot, long shot of Charlie walking off. Mid close up of Grace shouting for Charlie then hands cover her mouth from darkness.

EXT – FIELD – NIGHT

Action – Grace running away from fire.

INT – SCHOOL HALL – DAY

Mr Eastwood saying “You are aware of the incidents that have occurred” cut to mid close up, “Watch out.” Cut to mid close up of Charlie looking suspicious. Cut to Mr Eastwood looking at Charlie.

EXT – RUN DOWN BUILDING – DAY

Action – sitting out of breath with blood weeping down her face – crying

(Diegetic voiceover)

Charlie – I HAVE TO FIND HER!

EXT – WOODS – LATE DAY

Action – running down fields with a search party of dogs after her (the police). See the search party with torches.

INT – CLASSROOM – DAY

Zara throwing chair across classroom “NOBODY CARES. WHY DOES NOBODY CARE?”

INT – CELLAR

Grace tied up in cellar, chiaroscuro lighting, looking scared.

(Diegetic voiceover)

Grace screaming

EXT – FIELD – DAY

Mid shot of Charlie and Zara turning their heads as though they’ve heard something.

(Voice over)

I’m never going to escape

Close up shot of Grace looking behind her, scared.
